 Peter is nearly forty.  He’s put on a few pounds lately and has been more tired than normal… 

of which he figures is due to getting older,  something his wife Tina  has been reminding him of while planning his 40th birthday party.  One other situation he’s encountered is a slight loss of…desire.  While Tina on the other hand is rearing to go.  

Peter’s tried the normal stimulations… but nothing seems to be working.  Tina is confused as to why Peter doesn’t seem excited to get her in bed.  Or when he is with her, why he’s failing to perform.  Why wouldn’t he want her?  

She worries that he’s having an affair. After doing some research she suggests to Peter that his lack of libido  might be caused by his hormones.  Peter knows how Tina and other women’s bodies sometimes respond to hormones.  

He didn’t know the same thing was medically possible in men.  Tina suggests he see a doctor to determine if his loss of libido is due to a hormonal imbalance.  Peter agrees it’s worth a shot.  At the appointment, the endocrinologist told Peter 

that hormones are really important to all aspects of a man’s health. Or, there can be an imbalance in the sex hormones  that could be causing his low libido and erectile dysfunction. 

Hormones also play a critical role in the prevention of heart disease,  regulating blood pressure, and other systems in the body. Peter gets a simple blood test to check out his hormonal balance,  and then when he gets home he logs on to hormone.org to learn more. If you’re a man who’s experiencing weight gain,  

fatigue, sexual dysfunction, or any other health issue…  don’t assume it’s a natural part of aging.  Visit an endocrinologist, and
